Looking for ideas

There was no shortage of ideas when eleven alumni and two students put their heads together at the GDHS library to plan an itinerary for the 60th Anniversary of Glencoe District High School.  Starting with what worked in the past, Howard vanderHooft recalled details of the 40thReunion in 1992.  Barb (Saylor) Dobie, Karen (Mitchell) Aranha, and Rick Cowell were behind the scenes at the 50th in 2003.

Alumni cheerleaders a hit at the 50th Reunion

Planning for the 60th is tracking towards May 18-20, 2012.  Word of the reunion date is beginning to spread to alumni around the world.  Bonnie (Durrell) McArthur from London had ideas for hosting people from out of town and was elected chair of an Accommodations/Transportation committee.  Don Cunningham (son of the late Principal Jim Cunningham) volunteered to help organize a golfing tournament.  George Allen (Bothwell student who had a career in finance at University of Western Ontario) has already started moderating the GDHS Alumni facebook group.

Other attendees at the October 6th meeting included Logan Arnold (Student Council Co-President), Jamieson Wolfe (Spirit rep), Mary Simpson, Marion (Mackenzie) Ysebaert, Karen (Gould) Hodgson, and Martha Wortner, who recently returned home after living in Australia for 30 years.

The group hopes that people in the community will start spreading the word.  Ideas and suggesteds can be posted on facebook and https://gdhsalumni.wordpress.com/   To receive meeting notices, contact Mary Simpson at simpsonma@xplornet.com or call 519 287 3566.
