Larry Came! Who else!

Larry Davenport:

  • he was born in Glencoe Ontario in 1952
  • learned to skate on frozen ponds at the age of eight
  • when the Glencoe arena opened he went there almost 24/7
  • last one to leave the arena and would even get rides home from the caretaker
  • at 15 he played for the Chatham Maroons
  • in that season alone, he scored 31 goals
  • youngest player on his team
  • two years before that, he played for Alvinston and scored 17 goals in a single game
  • was scouted by TorontoDetroit, and even Chicago hockey teams
  • he was signed to the Toronto Marlies into the Junior Metro Hockey League
  • coach would be the great Toronto Maple Leafs goalie himself, Turk Broda
  • sponsered by the Toronto Maple Leafs
  • he totaled with 154 career points which is currently ranking 15th in the programs all-time history
  • 1970, he won the E. Ray Speare award
  • Larry was inducted into the Boston University Athletic hall of fame in 2008
